## Research Opportunity in Data Analytics / Data Visualization ## If you are interested in working on data analytics and visualization, check out my research areas: https://picsolab.github.io/area.html If you are interested in participating in my research projects, there are various opportunities: 1) Course projects: Based on your background and interest, you can choose to take the following courses offered by me: A) Data Mining: will be offered in Spring 2018. B) Information Visualization: currently offered and will likely be offered again in next Fall. Both courses emphasize project work in which you will gain research experience and develop practical skills. You can use your creativity to work on challenging problems while doing your course project. C) Doctoral seminar: Social Networks and Graph Analysis: to be offered in next year. Substantial reading and project will be required in this class. (Prerequisites: Data mining, machine learning or relevant course are suggested. Basic courses in Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics are required.) D) Research seminar: Data Science: This 3-credit course will likely be offered every Spring. Students registering in the Spring have to participate in a reading group for two consecutive semesters and participate in our research projects. (Prerequisite: data mining or relevant course; registration requires instructor's permission.) 2) Independent study / Master thesis: After you have taken any of the above-mentioned courses or related courses, and you are interested in more in-depth research training, you can request to do either Independent study or Master thesis with me.
